Puppets
We work with your theme to design and construct small or large–scale imagery for events across Australia. Body puppets bring local historical or mythical characters to life, giving communities a powerful means of artistic expression. Ideal for street parades and festival performances, body puppets need a small team of interested people to operate and maintain. All training is provided.
Costumes
Our costumes are strongly inspired by carnival traditions. Some of our characters exhibit exaggerated features and over the top hairstyles. We celebrate with colourful, fun costumes –sometimes incorporating quirky optical illusions involving our animal companions! Our costumes are often made to a client’s brief, to express a theme or particular story. Perhaps you need some costumes for a community or school group? A simple headdress worn by many can be highly effective in a parade, or perhaps a complete full body design?
Site decorations
Flags, banners, sculptures, floats –all are designed and made within the unique context of an event. Colours and styles may reflect an historical or futuristic theme. Do you want to carry or animate your images or will they simply be displayed on site? Such considerations are taken in the early design stages of the process.
Workshops and materials
We can run workshops leading to an event, drawing on the skills and interests of the local community. We source as many recycled materials as possible and use sustainable products such as bamboo for structural support.
