Hats, masks, and sculptures big and small. Our hands on workshops inspire young people to create unique works of art to keep. Participants can drop in or book in. You choose the method which best suits your event. Using recycled materials whenever possible, our team of professional artists run workshops with a focus on fun, originality and safety.
Dinosaur Dig
Join us on a dinosaur dig! Our bumbling palaeontologists need your help to sift through the sands of time and uncover relics from the past. All training and tools are provided-just bring your sense of adventure. Be prepared to re assemble the skeletal remains of any creature we may find, and record your findings with a picture or model to take home.
Medieval Madness
Ride the Dragons and Unicorns! Creep through the Enchanted forest (but don’t wake the bear)! Fish frogs out of the medieval bog!
Join King Eggbert the Hungry, Sir Lunchalot, the 4th Earl of Porridge, Queen Omelette de Champignons and the Jester for a rollicking game based on Medieval children’s games, set in a colourful tournament ground decorated with flags, banners and bunting. It’s a Solarus madcap obstacle course, mixed with a Medieval Jousting game at the end. Developed for Sydney Olypic Park’s Kids in the Park activities in July 2011, this is our newest offering for children and one of our best.
Build a Wild Thing
Let’s build a big sculpture in one day at your event. How about a 3 metre high creature or perhaps just a reclining mermaid? Using bamboo, cane, and other materials, we will design and construct a giant creature with you. We’ve built big sculptures of all kinds: fish, mermaids, dinosaurs, and airplanes -even a model of Darwin’s Beagle for the Australian National Maritime Museum. It’s yours to keep, display or carry in a parade at the end of the day.
This is an activity that the whole family enjoys joining in, 3D construction, teamwork, decoration, with a bit of wonky engineering thrown in, Heaps of fun!
Junk percussion
Grab a stick, shake a rattle and join our junk percussion band. Drumming together is a great way to get the event going! We provide instruments and start the beat. Learn some simple rhythms, listen and play together. Our homemade drums are portable, so we can go on a little parade. If time allows we’ll make some hats to wear too. All drums and shakers are made from recycled materials. If you’d like to make some of your own to keep, we can source and prepare materials for you. Then it’s up to you to complete and decorate as you like.
