Wollongong’s Circus WOW now has two new stiltwalking street theatre acts following workshops with Janine and Catherine of Circus Solarus. In just 6 weekly sessions, costumes were designed and created; characters invented and scenarios developed through improvisation, inspiration and sheer determination.

‘Ticketyboo’ gently parodies the girl guide tradition, while ‘Insects’ creates a menacing, yet comical vision of a world inhabited by newly hatched mutants. Both acts performed at Thirroul Arts and Seaside Festival in April. Circus WOW attracts a diverse cross section of women across all age groups from the Wollongong area. They are committed to ongoing professional development through working collaboratively with each other and undertaking workshops with established professionals in the field. Circus Solarus offers training in all aspects of Street Arts –from float design and construction to performance.
