Writing an individual artist’s bio is difficult with a life spent working collaboratively with others,
where the boundaries between art, craft, performance, friendship, work and family life are blurred. The Art or Theatre of Celebration is where it all comes together, we try to make public celebration personal and meaningful.
Yet all of us have our individual preoccupations and skills.For me its costume making, performance, devising scenarios, working in community and also working at state and regional level in community cultural development organisations, artists groups and on cultural planning processes.x
Born in Trieste, Italy and arriving in Australia at the age of 5, Arnaldo brings both his European heritage and his Australian upbringing to his performances.
One of the original founders of Circus Solarus, his comic performance and stilt characters, in both English and Italian are loved by audiences everywhere.
Janine is a founding member of Circus Solarus. She has a particular interest in movement / physicality and enjoys performing ‘extreme’ characters. Her other love is costume, prop and set design. Janine is also a gifted sculptor, specialising in recycled and junk assemblage. She has been exhibiting her work for over 15 years.
Catherine Woodger is a performer with a particular interest in comedy, percussion and outdoor theatre. She has performed nationally and internationally at a variety of festivals and events.
As a percussionist, Catherine has focused on live outdoor entertainment - from shaking tambourines around the Blue Lake at Jenolan Caves in the middle of winter, to playing 44 gallon drums on the deck of a navy ship for Australia Day celebrations. She was a founding member of the all - female percussion group Nightflight to Venus which appeared at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, the Sydney Opera House Anniversary Celebrations and numerous community festivals and corporate events. Catherine climbed atop a scaffolding tower to play percussion in Nigel Jamieson’s ‘Kelly’s Republic’ at the Sydney Opera House forecourt in 1998.
